I truly never know when I’m going to write one of these blog posts, but it seems that it often happens when I’m away on a holiday, and I have a bit of space to breathe. As it happens, I felt the urge to grab my laptop and start typing, as I sit on the balcony with my coffee, overlooking Noosa Main Beach, whilst on holidays with my family. Noosa is a place my family have been bringing me since I was a little girl, and it is a place I return to – year after year, not only because it is one of my favourite places in the world, but as it happens, one of my closest friends moved here over a decade ago, so it is a place I love to escape to for many reasons.
It's our 5th day here in Noosa, and we have started each day the same way since arriving. The whole family and I get up super early and wander down to the beach for a sunrise swim. There’s honestly nothing like it, and nothing makes me feel more alive and happy. The water has been so beautiful, with soft gentle waves lapping in slowly – my favourite conditions. We have been so lucky with the weather, it’s been beautiful and sunny since we arrived, which was quite the contrast to the drive up here (crazy rain to the point where I could barely see the road in front of me).
This morning my intuition told me to stay in bed and have a slow morning on my own, and make final preparations for the launch of our summer collection, Cottage (which, as I type this, lands in 3 hours). As it happens, when my family went for their usual morning swim today, there were jellyfish about, and my sister-in-law got stung by one! So, my instincts to stay in bed a little longer, and lounge around with my coffee were spot on (this kind of thing is a common occurrence in my life, and as I get older, I have learned to listen to my intuition more and more).
I’m so excited/nervous about today’s launch, and it is such a strange feeling to be away from Coven HQ when a new collection is about to land – this is a first for me! This collection is quintessential Coven – feminine, floral, nostalgic, with lots of pretty details and embellishments.
I’m so proud of this collection and the campaign photoshoot that accompanies it. I got to indulge in all of my favourite things and fantasies – cottage-core, romanticising pottering around at home doing all of my favourite things… Baking with a cute apron on, having a picnic, laying around sipping coffee in my favourite robe, wandering around the garden picking flowers and receiving love letters in custom made letterbox (everyone does that, don’t they?)
I tend to have a pretty wild imagination and can be a little over the top with things, so having an outlet to express this creativity and these daydreams is extremely fulfilling for me. And as I sit here, 3 hours away from Coven HQ, I can’t help but feel extremely grateful to still be doing what I love. It’s been 7 years since I founded Coven (from my dining table, with just one dress) and sometimes it’s hard to be believe that Coven has become a global brand, and that sometimes when I’m out and about I will drive past someone walking down the street wearing Coven. I can’t tell you how exciting that is for me. I actually find it more exciting than when a celebrity wears Coven. It just means more to me.
What means even more to me, is the community that we have created. If you’re reading this, that means you! I feel such a connection to the Coven community, and am grateful every single day that my brand seems to attract such lovely and positive women. So in closing, I just want to say thank you for being here, to share my thoughts with you, and to say that my inbox is always open – should you wish to share yours with me.
One of my wishes for 2024 was to continue to strengthen and nurture the relationship that I have with you all, and I'm delighted to say that this was certainly accomplished - and then some! (Thanks in large part to you all).
Anyway, I'm off to grab some breakfast in Hastings Street, and then have a dip in our pool before the Cottage Collection is officially launched. Then I'll return to the apartment, log on just before 10am and then eagerly watch to see what our Coven community chooses from this collection! My pick for the most popular item is the Picnic Gown in Periwinkle, or perhaps the new style skirt - so we will see!
Until next time, my Coven Girls...
Wishing you a beautiful, magical and very festive December.
Lots of love,
